“Li sureddi” in our dialect means “The Sisters”, and in the Manca family are Alessia and Noemi who carry out the family project that is to recover and preserve the ancient clones of our Romangia sub zone.
In fact, Li Sureddi is a cut of Retagliadu nieddu, an ancient clone of cannonau, from five different vineyards in our locality Badde pira, located on the rolling hills overlooking the sea in the Gulf of Asinara in Sardinia. The 2017 vintage was hard, a difficult year to interpret and manage. The frost at the end of April has decimated our buds and many months of drought have, in some cases, caused permanent damage to our plants and almost all of the production. In spite of everything, we managed to select grapes in a maniacal way, creating, in our opinion, an elegant, subtle and graceful wine as if it were not the son of this so ungrateful year. You can like it or not but this is Li sureddi rosso 2017 and “we paint wine in our way”.
